Care for your mind, body, and spirit through the practice of Yoga.
my yoga journey
In 2014 I chose to enroll in my first 200 hour yoga teacher training in Norfolk, VA, a choice that changed my life forever. At the time I was a young professional, working as an art therapist in a psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents. I began attending yoga classes after work on a weekly basis and was amazed by how much calmer and peaceful I felt in my body and heart after class. The practice of yoga served me immensely in both my personal and professional life, and I wanted to learn more. After my first teacher training program, I began to incorporate gentle yoga movements and mindfulness practices into my work at the psychiatric hospital and was amazed at the results—children and adolescents alike reported feeling more calm, centered, and grounded even after a few minutes of simple practice.
In 2015, I completed my teacher training program in the lineage of Kundalini yoga. I fell in love with the meditative kriyas (physical exercises), breathwork, meditations, and lifestyle practices that I learned and applied within my daily life. I was undoubtably a more mindful, centered, and grounded version of myself because of my yoga practice. Yoga provided me with a powerful toolbag to manage stress, calm my mind, and regulate my emotions in an effective way. I loved sharing yoga with clients at the hospital I worked at, but with that being said, I truly believe that anyone, anywhere, can benefit from the incredible practices of yoga—which our world needs now, more than ever before.
As a yoga teacher, I offer you the breadth of my training in various yoga traditions, including Vinyasa, Yin, and Kundalini yoga. My yoga classes blend together mindfulness and body and breath awareness and are accessible to every person and to every body. I love to weave yogic philosophy, meditation, and sound healing practices into my classes as well.
Yoga is a wonderful way to care for your body as well as your mind and heart. Beginning a yoga practice doesn’t have to be intimidating— we all need to start somewhere! In my classes you will be greeted with warmth, compassion, and genuine care regardless of where you are in your yoga practice. Classes are suitable for both advanced practitioners as well as beginners.
At this time I am honored to be teaching Kundalini yoga at two beautiful studios in town. Below you will find the details of my classes, including the dates, times, and the link to the studio’s website to learn more and register. I look forward to seeing you on the mat!
